Integral Cold-Rolling Mechanics

Unlike applied or welded fins, integral fins are formed by rotating rolling blades that apply intense localized pressure to the tube OD. This 'displaces' the metal into a helical fin shape while maintaining a continuous grain structure between the fin and the tube wall.
  • No risk of fin separation under thermal cycling
  • Consistent wall thickness maintenance beneath the fin
  • Improved resistance to vibration and thermal shock

Surface Area & Thermal Performance

The primary goal of low-fin rolling is to overcome the air-side or shell-side heat transfer resistance. Our precision blades ensure exact fin profiles that maximize the area-to-volume ratio.
Fin Density (FPI)Surface Area RatioTypical Applications
19 FPI2.2x Area IncreaseProcess Oil Cooling
26 FPI2.8x Area IncreaseGas Condensers
32 FPI3.2x Area IncreaseRefrigeration Evaporators
40 FPI3.5x+ Area IncreaseAerospace / Ultra-Compact
